We are thrilled that two Giant Food stores have chosen our chapter to be the recipient of its Bloomin’ 4 Good program in August.  Each month, as a way to fight hunger, every Giant Food store designates a local organization to benefit from the sale of the specially designated Bloomin’ 4 Good Bouquets.  Giant donates $1 for each bouquet purchased.  We were honored to have been selected in July by the Giant Food on Centreville Road in Herndon and are heartened by the success of that effort.  We are doubly honored that the Giant stores at 1459 N. Point Village, Reston, and 2551 John Milton Drive, Herndon, have selected Assistance League of Northern Virginia to benefit from the sale of the floral bouquets in August.  The funds raised by these flower sales will help fund our Weekend Food for Kids program, by which we donate bags of nonperishable food to students during the school year, and grocery gift cards to their families during the summer months, when school-provided meals are not available.  Fighting hunger is more urgent as food prices continue to rise, further straining already struggling families.  We welcome contributions so we can continue to help those most in need in our community and we are very grateful to Giant Food for recognizing our efforts.  Learn more about those programs at:  www.alnv.org.

The Bloomin’ 4 Good program makes it so easy for everyone to help reduce hunger in the area while doing their regular shopping.  We encourage all our neighbors to stop by the Reston or Herndon Giant store, buy a bouquet, and make a difference!
