Opportunity Neighborhood (ON) Reston and Herndon, through Cornerstones Inc. is planning a resource and job fair to specifically meet the workforce and training needs of adults living in low income neighborhoods in Reston and Herndon. At the beginning of this year, ON solicited the feedback of many of these same residents around their needs coming out of the pandemic (see attached “infographic”) and most expressed a need for sustainable employment as being most critical to their well-being.
In an effort to meet these identified needs and to support building back a community that is thriving, ON partners are planning a series of workforce focused activities at the end of August through the end of September 2021 (see attached agenda). We would love your support in getting workforce opportunities to the residents who can most benefit from them!
On October 1st, we would like to a host a “meet and greet” with employers who are currently recruiting applicants. By Oct 1st, the folks you as employers will meet will have developed an updated resume, will have gotten interviewing support and will be ready to meet you. We are considering either online or in person formats in accordance with the most current CDC and Fairfax County guidelines. If you are interested in participating in this “meet and greet” and would like to learn more about the resource/job fair and the folks you can anticipate meeting, please email Sarah Newman (Division Director, Community Change Partnerships/ Cornerstones) at [email protected] and cc Kristin Allgaier (Administrative Coordinator, Opportunity Neighborhoods (ON) Reston & Herndon) at [email protected]. Please indicate your preference for online or in person format.
