Today's #leadership quote

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
― Theodore Roosevelt

I infer a number of salient points from this quote. The first one that jumps out at me is the need to be resourceful. You will seldom have everything you want or believe you need to move forward. Often this will scuttle the entire initiative and a great opportunity may be lost. In the effort to avoid failure or risk many potential innovations have fallen by the wayside or gone to other more adventurous people. If on the other hand you can see past the limitations whether they be personal or technical and take the first step on the journey more possibilities may be brought to life. Unfortunately if you wait until you have been able to assemble all of the raw ingredients and develop 100% certainty of success you will likely miss the window of opportunity. In another light the quote points to the importance of being satisfied with what you currently have and not allowing your desire for more to get in the way of enjoying what you have today. Gratitude is a key factor in living in a state of fulfillment and it is important to be able to appreciate that which you already have. There will always be a next level to aspire to and it is great to work to achieve it but your happiness should not depend on getting there.
