No One Left Behind: Supporting Our Veterans in Northern Virginia and Beyond

I’ve not seen firsthand the courage, sacrifice, and quiet resilience of the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States military. Yet I’m familiar with the stories of what happens when the uniform comes off—when the battlefield grows quiet, but the internal battles continue.
Veterans returning home often face a different kind of war: one fought against unemployment, red tape, isolation, and emotional hardship.
Across the country, and right here in Northern Virginia, thousands of veterans are struggling—not for lack of character or capability, but due to a complex mix of systemic hurdles and invisible wounds. Many find it difficult to navigate the maze of Veterans Affairs forms. Others need guidance as they re-enter the civilian workforce. And far too many suffer silently, lacking the mental and emotional support they need to heal.
Let us not let them fight alone.
That’s why I’m proud to support the work of the Stars & Stripes NOVA Committee and their ongoing mission to uplift and empower veterans in our region. Through community partnerships and grassroots action, we’re helping to connect veterans with the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive—not just survive.
One such opportunity is coming up this fall, and it’s a powerful way for our community to step up.
