Today's #leadership quote
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault
Sticking with the theme of gratitude for Thanksgiving week, I came across this quote by Robert Brault the author of Round Up the Usual Suspects. Too often we overlook or take for granted the blessings that are right in front of us. In our desire to be bigger stronger or faster we lose sight of the accomplishments that we have already achieved. Every day we are surrounded by things we should be grateful for but if we are focused on the next rung of the ladder, we may miss the beauty of where we currently are and fail to recognize where we came from. If we can instead take time each day to focus on everything that we should be grateful for it is impossible to be unhappy. By appreciating what we already have we not only allow joy into our lives but we also reduce stress and anxiety. We get the hits of serotonin and dopamine that elevate our moods giving us the fuel to accomplish more. It is amazing the transformation a simple smile can make to ones demeanor. If you practice expressing your gratitude every day, the quality of your life will improve and the little things which often fly under the radar will help propel you to your destiny.
A good coach will keep you grounded in the present and help you recognize all that you have aleady accomplished while preparing you to accomplish more. If you would like to find out what you are capable of give me a call at 703 445-3133. You will be glad that you did.
