Today's #leadership quote
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for any one else.” Charles Dickens
A leaders role is to serve those that are entrusted to them. Often this is forgotten by people who have leadership titles and who believe that the opposite is true. Leadership is neither a title or a birthright. It cannot be dictated but instead must be earned. The best leaders are those who raise up the people they have the privilege of working with. It is easy to find fault and pass judgement but good leaders don't. Instead they find ways to capitalize on the strengths of those in their care rather than focusing on their weaknesses. They put people in position to succeed and use failure as a teaching tool. Leaders understand that often the best learning comes through failure rather than success so they afford their followers the freedom to try and fail without recrimination but with compassionate coaching. A leaders primary responsibility is to develop future leaders. Rather than drawing attention to themselves, a true leader highlights the accomplishments of the team. and only take center stage when absolutely necessary to resolve a crisis or to take accountability for something that went wrong. Leadership is a privilege not an honor
