Today's #leadership quote
There comes a time when you have to stand up and be counted.
Gale Sayers
For some taking a stand comes naturally and in fact they somewhat enjoy the controversial nature of speaking out against the established way of doing things. Their weakness may be keeping an open mind and understanding both sides of the situation. Because they speak out so frequently the impact of their pulpit may become muted. Steven Covey said seek first to understand and then to be understood. Being curious helps to ensure that we understand. For many however, taking a stand is not a natural reaction. The fear of rejection or failure creates a limiting belief that they are not enough. They try to avoid conflict at all costs and would prefer to toil in anonymity rather than publicly speaking out. For those a lack of courage prevents them from putting themselves out there and their voices unfortunately may never be heard. We need to invite their input and hear their voices as well. The serenity prayer shows us the path. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference
If you need help finding your voice and getting your message out a business coach can be a great addition to your team.
