What’s New This Year
The Pet Village
Presented by Veterinary Emergency Group, the new Pet Village expands on the popular Pets in the Park. Located near the Wegman’s Children’s Rides area, the Pet Village features discounted nail trims, treats, giveaways, adoptable pets, and live painting by artist Rebekah Keener of BekArt. Pet blessings by Rev. Kevin Laskowski begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the Rotary Club Pet Parade at 12:45 p.m., with prizes for best tricks and costumes.
History Trail Hunt
To mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Centreville Chiropractic Center invites families to explore the History Trail Hunt through the historic district. Trail maps are available at the Chiropractic Center and DAR booths, or online at CentrevilleDay.org. Visit seven historic sites, answer questions, and win a prize.
Mount Gilead Reopens
After being closed for repairs last year, the 1785 Mount GileadHouse reopens under new resident curators Kristyn and Spencer Marrott, who will host first-floor tours. On the lawn, Lucky Strike Entertainment will provide games and giveaways, with family and after-dark events continuing later in the day. The popular History Train, sponsored by The Dog Stop, will again run from Mount Gilead to Braddock Road.
Visit Historic Buildings
In addition to Mount Gilead, and to kick off the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, learn more about how people lived and worked by visiting historic buildings nestled in the event area. Take a few moments to explore St. John’s Episcopal Church, Utterback House (Kids World Montessori), Spindles Sears House, and The Old Stone Church (Church of the Ascension).
Parade, Stage Performances & More
The day kicks off at 10:00 a.m. on the Navy Federal Credit Union Stage with the Opening Ceremony and presentation of Citizens of the Year Awards, followed by the American Legion Post 1995 Parade at 11:00 a.m. Miss Virginia Madison Whitbeck will lead the parade and the Walk to End Hunger hosted by Western Fairfax Christian Ministries.
Throughout the day, enjoy live performances by Harmony Roads Music School, Mount Olive Baptist Church Choir, Harang Sori Korean Folk Dance, Cardinal Cloggers, Mixed Greens, KCPC Martial Arts Troop, and RearView.
