On this Family Day, there is going to be an annular solar eclipse! But what does that mean? Join us for activities and demonstrations to learn about different types of solar eclipses, what to expect, and how to view it safely.

Activities include:

  • Safe solar observing before and during the annual solar eclipse
  • Demonstrations and hands-on activities
  • A community art project
  • Free planetarium shows at 10:30 and 11:30 am
  • Story Time with author Andy Rash, where he will read his book, Eclipse. A book signing will follow afterwards.
  • Musical performances by award-winning acapella group, The Chromatics.
  • Conversations and Q&As with experts in the field
  • Scavenger hunt exploration of the exhibits
  • And more!

This program is free but timed-entry passes are required for entry into the Museum. Can't attend in person, check out the Virtual version, which starts October 13.  Details and reservations
