Today's #leadership quote
"The time is always right to do the right thing." Martin Luther King
I chose this quote because I have always believed that the crucial difference between leaders and those who occupy positions of authority lies in this simple statement. Leaders chose to do the right thing even when that is accompanied by risk and potential personal sacrifice. Leaders have the courage to stand up for what is right despite the fact that their position may be unpopular or subject them to naysayers or haters. There is a marked difference between doing things correctly and doing the right things. It is comfortable and convenient to follow the established procedures maintaining the status quo. It is safer to follow the established path that has been set for us. We can minimize risk and allow the fears of failure or rejection to guide us to remain within our comfort zone. Or we can have the courage to stand up for what is right, drive change and make an impact. The choice is ours. One path will leave us comfortable yet unfulfilled, the other challenged and weary and perhaps even ostracized but ultimately accomplished and exhilarated . It takes courage to do the right thing when it is difficult but the reward is great. Choose to lead and you will not regret it.
