Today's #leadership quote
“A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.” – John C. Maxwell
As we go through the various stages of our lives we will inevitably fail often. The failures however do not define us. Our response to those missteps is what ultimately defines us.
Any time we risk trying something new we are likely to fail in our initial attempts. When we first learned to play sports we were not initially successful. We didn't step up to the plate and hit a home run the first time we swung the bat. But with practice and repeated attempts and repeated swings and misses we eventually learned what worked and gained a level of competency in the venture. When we learned to ride a bike we likely fell down a few times but we got back up and tried again adjusting our approach over time to become proficient. As leaders we need to take calculated risks at time and we will invariably fail. Our resilience and perseverance and willingness to accept accountability for the missteps,, learn the vital lessons and continue failing forward are the keys to ultimately achieving our goals. Success is not ever instantaneous but achieved through continued incremental improvements.
